Proposal

The platform we have chosen for our ‘Interface Concept Development Task’ will feature as a mobile phone application. The real world problem we have acknowledged is the inefficient use of energy in households, with the use of our digital mobile application we hope to make domestic energy consumption more economical.
Reaching our goals

To reach our goals we are going to make an ‘energy cost calculator’ application which will allow the user to cut down on their energy use and get suggestions on long term saving, the app will work out how long it will take to pay off the installation of a solar panel being installed for example, allowing the user to decide if they are prepared to look that far into the future of their energy usage.

The application will include a slide bar which will allow the user to enter their power usage to work our where most of their energy is being used so they can balance it more accordingly.
Theme colours

The theme colours we have decided to go for are dark shades of grey and dark green. We decided these colours were best as the dark colours will use less power on the users mobile device, the dark green was chosen to reflect the connotations of life and renewable energy sources which we stand for.

Energy cost calculator

The target audience we are hoping to reach out to are homeowners with smartphones of the ages between 20 – 50. We chose this range as the younger homeowners will be beginning to think about saving money on energy usage but will not have much experience of paying for electricity. The older audience will make use of recording their energy use hassle free. Our secondary audience will be landlords looking for long term savings while designing the houses they are looking to rent out.
